Okay, I think I already hate it. Don't wanna offend anyone, but when I was walking through tons of Disney-fanart here on DA and saw a lot of pictures in manga/anime style I though I began to be sick of it. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against anime in general. But this...
I hate it when somebody changes the original style of character into anime style, gosh!
Firstly, every character drawn in that way has to say goodbye to his features and charm (and mostly their noses, lol :'D). Secondly, when I see something like that I think people are just too lazy to try original or their very own style. Why? Because drawing in anime style seems pretty simple to me. Just believe me. I was fan of anime when I was about 15-16 years old xD (So, I had experience in drawing anime characters =___= ).
As for me, this kind of things doesn't look nice.
And if YOU are a person who draw any non-anime fanart in anime style, don't take it personally. I didn't mean to offend anyone, as I said. These things were chasing me for a long time and I just had to say it out. That's all. Have a nice day xD

Well though you do have a point on some of it, I don't totally agree, when I draw a Disney character in anime style, it's because I want to see what they would look like, and I happen to think that they look quite nice in anime style (some of them ^^; ) but I also do my anime characters in Disney style as well sometimes just to see what they will look like. (but if you think about it Disney style is ALSO Japanese anime style just a different kind, because quite a few of the names in the credits of the movies are Japanese names. ^^; ) But whatever, I'm just saying that there is nothing wrong with drawing a character in a different style, I'm also NOT saying that your opinion is wrong, it's just that I think some of the Disney characters look cool in anime style, and some anime characters look just as cool/good in Disney style. :D
But if you think about it many people may feel the same when someone draws a character in there own style, because it may not look like said character. (LOL I've actually been accused of that several time's. ^^; Not sure why, though.)
I actually draw both Anime AND Disney style myself. ;P

Well, you can draw whatever you want, but I don't find anime style attractive at all. Also I don't think that if any Japanese guy draws any character it makes him drawn in Japanese style, lol.
And yes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with drawing characters in another style or just your own one, but for god's sake, let's forget about anime style, because I find it wrong in many ways.
By the way, you know Clopin from the movie "Hunchback of Notre Dame"? This is how he supposed to look like: [link] (you should notice that artist draws him in her own style, too), here is another one still drawn in ARTIST'S OWN style: [link]
But when I see him drawn in any kind of anime style it really makes me sick >_< I think here are the best examples to show you what I mean: [link] [link] [link]
That's what I was talking about during ALL my journal entry. And I say again: IT'S OKAY TO DRAW CHARACTER IN YOUR OWN STYLE, BUT I'M JUST SICK OF ANIME STYLES. I don't see any reason why you tries to change my mind, anyway, you won't succeed, lol. Just take it xD
I really regret I began this topic, because so many people began to say that anime style is nice and okay. I don't argue, if you like it, it's up to you. And I don't like it. And I had to say out what I was thinking. Or you wanna continue the conversation? And I apologize for being rude.

LOL O.K For starter's I wasn't trying to start a fight with you, and I'm NOT saying your opinion is wrong, in fact I do agree with you to an extent, I agree that most characters look better in there original design, and I WASN'T trying to change you're opinion, I didn't even think of that, I was simply stating my personal feeling's on the matter. ^^; But even this guy => :icontombancroft: has tried drawing his own characters in anime style. And he's one of the original animators for the Lion King. and he's drawn anime characters in Disney style before as well, but yeah whatever ^^; (LOL And yes I've seen the Hunchback of Notre Dame, I used to watch it all the time when I was younger, quite frankly though when I was real young it used to scare me in some scene's. ^^; So embarrassing.)

And though you don't find anime style appealing I do, but I also find Disney style appealing, (and quite frankly, yes those first two fan pictures of Clopin look ugly, but the third on I actually personally liked, but that's just me.)

And as for the drawing the characters in there own style thing, I was just stating from my own personal experiences on that matter, because I have drawn many characters in my own style, and thought that I did a pretty good job of making them look like said character, only to have several people berate me, and telling me that it look's NOTHING like said character. ^^;

But yeah I didn't miss the whole point of what you were writing about in your journal, beleave me I have the same feeling's about all those die hard Yaoi fan's. (Don't get me wrong I do personally like yaoi.) But yeah to the point, I love that 07 Ghost series, and so many of the stupid die hard fan's were going nut's saying how it was going to turn out to be a yaoi series, and I was hoping and preying that it wasant, because I was getting tired of all the new anime's being yaoi or shonen ai, so naturally I was happy when they brought in a female romantic figure for the main character, but so many people when there hope were crushed about it NOT being yaoi they all started screeching, and yelling, and bashing the series, and several of them even stopped reading/watching it....... But I also know extremely well what your talking about, with all those idiot's out there that pare two male Disney character's together as a couple, or two female characters together, as a couple, I personally have nothing against homosexual's, but there Disney characters for pete's sake, and they all already have said destand characters that there meant to be with, heak I've seen totally appalling picture's, like Jafar having sex with Aladdin, and such. :P ................................. But anyway that was soooo waaaayyy off topic, Sorry about that. ^^; I tend to ramble about thing's that no one care's about.

But On that note, I don't think that you were being rude, you were just trying to get your point across, I get it, I really do, and like I said I was not trying to make you change your opinion. And I wasn't trying to start a fight, I don't normally try to start fight's with people that I watch hear on D.A because I consider them friend's. :) So please don't take what I said to heart, and find it offensive, because that wasn't my intention beleave me.

Okay then, maybe I didn't get you quite right at first, sorry.
(I walked through the artist's gallery and... are you trying to kill me? T__T that art is so brilliant and amazing!)
I myself like or liked some kinds of slash/yaoi/yuri, but still, that was in the past I think xD

What about the third picture I showed you, I want to explain why I don't like it too. It's about all the anime style also, so I'll try to show you my opinion more clearly.
I have a thing for not ideal people, not ideal appearance. And even Disney gives pretty much variants of it. And in anime/manga style all the people look kinda similar. Yeah, I know, there are really many japanese styles, but I'm talking about what I usually do see: big eyes, pointed noses and little lips, flat faces. This is the most recognisable features of anime style, don't you thing so? And that Clopin on the third pic looks toooo much ideal, that's why I don't like it, i prefer his original face :D

Also I myself drew in Japanese styles a few years ago, but then it became boring, because I understood they all are rather similar (like if you can draw one character, you can do the rest too), and those flat faces didn't help me in studying anatomy.

LOL That's O.K. I get where you were coming from. XD

LOL Yeah I understand what you mean, I think that same thing, with many of the anime style's out there. ^^; there noses are too pointed or they have no nose at all, and sometimes there eye's are TOO big for my liking. ^^;

Yeah I do know where your coming from on that topic, I've had many people say that my characters look like someone else's character's, blah, blah, blah. LOL ^^;
Although there are some anime style's that I have trouble doing, like the Naruto style, (not sure why. ^^; ) Or even some of CLAMP's many different style's.

I can see what you mean by this, but in their defense a lot of peaple taught themselves to draw through anime and haven't developed that style into something else yet. I have been drawing for a few years now and I am still trying to shake anime-ish style. But its still there when I try drawing esmeralda or clopin. Its just something to consider before developing a prejudice.

Yeah, yeah, I know =_= I bet you're the tenth person who says me about that :XD:
I usually pass away when I see such things ^^''' Though I like your HoND fanart, and you keep Clopin's nose and his wrinkles, I think it's very important to picture his features and also all these things are very nice :'D
